Kari Lake Claims Shenanigans in AZ Governor’s Race
It sounds like Lake is guilty of election interference

It might be time to update our definitions. The current definition of election interference involves improper vote-counting, ballot manipulation, or interference from a foreign country — which might be nothing more than an attempt to discredit the voting process.
If foreigners are guilty of election interference for attempting to discredit our voting process, why are American citizens allowed to do the same thing with impunity? Hmmm. This reminds me of something. Oh yeah, terrorism. When foreign nationals do it, it’s a crime. When American citizens do it, they’re patriots.
Before the election on Tuesday, Republican candidate for governor and Trump pick Kari Lake was already claiming Democrats were cheating. When a reporter asked for evidence, she failed to produce any. Instead, she said, “I’m not going to give it to you, a reporter from MSDNC. ”
Of course, she has no evidence. When she made her inane statement, the election hadn’t even happened. Today, as the vote is counted, she is resorting to cries of “shenanigans.” I’m not sure what the official definition of shenanigans is, but I’m pretty sure Lake is guilty of it.
It’s not surprising that Lake has chosen to follow in Trump’s footsteps. Her Republican rival and Pence-backed candidate, Taylor Robson, has openly admitted that Biden is the real president. However, Robson is quick to point out that the election wasn’t fair. Robson sites last-minute changes to the election process as the basis for her claim, conveniently failing to mention those changes were due to a pandemic.
Meanwhile, Lake says all news that doesn’t cover the “rigged election of 2020” is fake news. I wonder how she’d categorize news that covers Trump’s attempt to steal the 2020 election? What about the news that covers Trump’s attempted coup on January 6th? Or the 60 court cases Trump filed (and lost) to have the 2020 election overturned?
As of this writing, the Republican primary for governor of Arizona is too close to call — although true to form, Lake has already said she won. But it hardly matters.
If the unprecedented turnout in Kansas is any indication, people who still care about democracy will vote in Arizona — and my guess is, they won’t be voting Republican.
