Like most writers, I have about a hundred or more titles I haven’t yet written stories about. It’s hard to stay focused when the proverbial s^&t hits the fan daily, if not hourly,
But when something big comes across my radar, I like to focus on it. And yesterday, that’s what happened. My working title, “We Need a New Political Party,” is no longer valid.
We have a new political party, and we can thank Andrew Yang, among others.
The Forward Party
The Forward Party was, until recently, a political action committee (PAC) focused on strengthening our democracy by uniting Americans. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. It’s the party of former-presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
Yang’s party has been working with the Renew America Movement and the Serve America Movement for several years. The culmination of those efforts is a “transformational American political party operating under one name: FORWARD.”
We’re not building a copy of the current parties, which are dragging our country backward. We’re moving American politics forward, with a party focused on innovative, collaborative, and common-sense solutions that work for the majority of Americans.
We are starting from a refreshingly simple premise: Every problem has a solution most Americans can support (really). We just have to cut out the extreme partisanship, reintroduce a competition of ideas, and work together in good faith.
Their message could not be more appropriate, and their timing could not be better.
I will be joining them, and I hope you will too.
