Has it occurred to you that if people didn’t fear deep down that everyone they know could be bought, we wouldn’t be here now?
Musk is threatening to primary any Republican who speaks out against his and Trump’s agenda. And every one of them seems to have caved to this fear. But ask yourself why we are so afraid that money will determine who we vote for.
Trump and Musk are trashing our political system, stealing our data, and threatening to steal our money — as well as destroying the systems that protect us — we see it every day. Yet are we so blind to this that we can be manipulated into voting for them and against our best interests?
It was one thing when people believed they meant well. It’s another thing today when we can see the chaos they have wrought.
We need to ask the question: Why does Musk’s money wield so much power?
It’s all about fear
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was correct when he said in his 1933 Inaugural Address, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Fear controls all of Washington, the mainstream media, and far too many of the voting public. It is the fear that if we are asked to choose between following the money and operating with integrity, we will all choose the former. Without that threat, Musk’s money is meaningless.
Yes, Musk will continue to use his money to spread lies, just as he did in the 2024 election, but can we not see past those lies now? Is the lost job of a valued friend/relative with a decades-long career in the FBI, the Civil Service, the National Parks, or the IRS enough not enough to show you that they do not mean well? Would losing healthcare benefits or social security payments be enough? Can you honestly tell yourself this will all be for the best in the long run?
Have you seen the video of Elon Musk pontificating at a presser in the Oval while his son, X, is whispering in Donald Trump’s ear, “You’re not the president. You need to go away,” or “Shush your mouth?”
Some are saying this video was misinterpreted. But I ask you to watch it and look at Trump, slumping at his desk with a look that says pretty clearly, “I am not here, and this is not happening.” He looked the same way when French President Macron recently corrected him during a live presser in the Oval. Is this the Trump you elected as the strong and successful man who will save America? Can you really still believe that Trump is a powerful president who will protect you?
Trump is a hostage to Musk
Trump is a hostage to Musk, and these videos prove it. While Trump, the man you elevated to hero status, sits, unable to defend himself or his position, a child makes a mockery of his presidency — a child Musk has been using as a human shield since he contaminated us with his presence in the Capitol (and the Oval) as the true villain behind the Trump presidency. And this humiliation is followed by another humiliation, just as complete, at the hands of the younger, more energetic, more vibrant man in the French President, who dares to correct Trump’s lies in real-time while sitting in Trump’s office.
This is where the misguided worship of money has brought us. There is no other cause of this absurdly dystopian reality. First, the public bought the lie that Trump was a successful businessman, based entirely on a reality TV show that even its producer has bemoaned the consequences of. Then they bought into the lie that Musk — who did not invent Tesla but merely bought the right to say he did — is some genius who will save our country. Right. Just like he saved X or Tesla. Hmmm. How’s that working out for you, Elon?
We have handed our power to an oligarchy bent on robbing us blind and we refuse to see it
How can the American people so devalue their value that they believe men whose pathological need to control and dominate others are somehow better than the rest of us? How can so many of us fall into the trap of believing that someone with money must inherently be capable, good, or event smart? It’s just not true.
If a person is a manipulative psychopath, he can accumulate a great deal of wealth. It doesn’t mean he is capable or good — only that money was his goal above all else. Please chew on that for a moment. If you have been foolish enough to discard whatever critical thinking skills you once had, please try to resurrect them now because we need you.
We need you to stop buying into the B.S. these ultra-wealthy megalomaniacs are feeding you and ask yourself how they could understand and solve the big issues that confront you daily, like how to feed your family, afford medical care, or provide a good education for your children.
These men don’t even understand what it means to make choices — even easy ones. They don’t have to. They are kowtowed to everywhere they go by people like you. The rich and powerful care nothing for you or your children or your elderly parents, who will most likely die in a nursing home while being abused by underpaid staff.
And all the while, you are busy worshipping the golden calf.
Mainstream media isn’t helping
If the media had balls, they’d tell the White House they didn’t wish to attend any more Oval Office lying sessions. They would then use whatever they could pull from FOX Media, or NewsMax’s disingenuous coverage of Musk and Trump, to highlight and debunk every lie they tell every day. That would be the appropriate way to cover Musk and Trump as well as House Speaker Mike Johnson and any other MAGA parasite who dares to keep pretending they know something we don’t. They know one thing only: how to lie with impunity.
If the man in charge of the White House Correspondence Team had guts, he’d lead the charge. He should invite Trump to ban all of the journalists from the White House, then see what kind of press the Liar-In-Chief gets. They can and should stop covering lies as if they are truths — nothing is stopping them.
Where’s the proof of all this fraud and abuse Musk is ranting about?
Since when do baseless claims of fraud and abuse made with no evidence to back them up provide the proof we need to sack thousands of government workers and steal government funds? When Musk claims to have found fraud, why is no one covering him, asking him to provide evidence of where and how it was found?
Why is mainstream media not reminding the American people every day that Musk’s claims about 150-year-olds receiving social security checks were based on a failure of his team of adolescent IT professionals to understand COBOL, which defaulted to 1875 for people whose birthdays were unknown?
Musk similarly fabricated a story about immigrants staying in luxury hotels in New York City. But what he didn’t realize was most of that money was slated for disaster relief. As with the Social Security cock-up, his goons don’t have the discipline, knowledge, or desire to get to the truth — they feed on superficial data they can make up stories about.
So, why won’t the press stand up to Trump and call out his lies every time he tries to pass them off as reality? Because they are afraid of Musk’s money. Just like Trump is afraid of Musk’s money. Trump needs it to survive after making every stupid financial mistake possible. (In addition to destroying every business venture he’s ever touched, repeatedly lying about his crimes — resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in judgments against him — he is now resorting to a myriad of frivolous lawsuits to fill his coffers. He is a financial disaster, and Elon Musk has billions. This is why Musk was able to buy Trump.
But here’s the thing: money can’t buy every judge. Some judges have morals. Some judges follow the law. Even the latest of Trump’s clearly frivolous lawsuits, this one against CBS, isn’t looking good for Trump.
CBS is fighting back
For weeks, I’ve been hearing reports of how CBS will settle and give Trump millions to make the lawsuit against them go away — but they made an assumption that has proven to be wrong.
CBS is fighting back. Instead of running from the suit, they are asking for what any reasonable defendant would request: discovery. This does not bode well for Trump, who claims to have suffered multi-billion dollar losses due to the editing of a 60 Minutes interview of Kamala Harris in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
Trump claims his staggering losses resulted from a final product that made Harris appear substantially more coherent and capable than she is. LOL. From an incoherent and incapable president, this is funny.
CBS has the evidence, and it doesn’t work in Trump’s favor. What’s more, if the routine motion to request discovery is granted, which an appeals court will likely need to weigh in on, since Trump’s use of judge-shopping has allowed him to begin his case in a Trump-friendly court, it could require Trump to reveal a great deal about the various companies he is claiming were damaged by the routine editing of an interview by a team of professionals who do this every day without a hint of bias or reprobation for it — until now.
Trump has overplayed his hand — again
In this case, it is becoming clear that Trump has overplayed his hand. And yet, for the American people, it seems Trump can’t ever be accused of the very thing he does because no matter how ridiculous his statements or the actions he and his appointees take, at every turn, Congressional Republicans, who have the majority at the moment, continue to support him. And as long as they allow gaslighting to pass for contemplative consideration (something Susan Collins has become quite comfortable with), we will not successfully hold Trump accountable for any of his actions, and certainly not for his blatant power grab and authoritarian take-over of America.
Voters have power — but if they remain in thrall to money — they will lose it
We have, as voters, the power to vote for new members of Congress who will not succumb to the desire for money and power. We have the power to vote for people who will take their oath to the Constitution seriously and will not let lies upstage truth at every turn. But we must take responsibility for what we’ve done so far and take steps to remedy those errors.
When Congress is comprised of more people willing to call out election interference rather than cower because they once promised us our elections couldn’t be stolen (news flash — yes, they fucking can). When they are willing to point out fraud and abuse where they see it, we can reinstate the democracy we have lost.
And don’t be fooled — today our democracy is lost. Today, we are ruled by an oligarchy and a group of Congressional representatives who are living in fear every day and are unwilling to adhere to the Constitution they swore an oath to for fear of what Elon Musk and Donald Trump have threatened to do to them.
The question is, are the American people willing to let this fear control them until that’s all they have, or are we willing to fight back?
You tell me.
